Trust between organizations, without a middleman.
The Sovereign Network is a system for organizations to trust each other and exchange proofs without a central coordinator. This page describes what it is meant to do and states plainly that it is not being built yet. The Sovereign Network arrives in phase 3.
Organisations that trust each other directly.
Today, organizations that want to exchange proofs or data must go through a middleman — an API gateway, a data broker, a network operator. The Sovereign Network lets organizations connect directly to each other. Trust is announced publicly. Proofs are verified at their origin.
What the Sovereign Network enables.
When a university issues a degree and a lender wants to verify it, they do not need a middleman. The lender contacts the university directly. The university publishes the keys it signs with. The lender checks the signature itself. No platform sits between them. That is what the Sovereign Network is designed to do.
This is not in this launch or phase 2. It arrives in phase 3.
The Sovereign Network is a longer-term piece of the roadmap. The architecture is being designed. The platform will be built after phases 1 and 2 land. When it ships, this page will explain how to participate.
Why per-organization keys, and why no call home.
A utility, a lender and a health provider each signing under their own key is the reason a regulator can revoke one of them without touching the platform or the others. A shared-key scheme cannot offer that: when one participant misbehaves, there is no clean answer to who else is affected.
Checking a credential this way takes no key, no account and no call back to whoever issued it. No central choke point, no metadata trail of who checked whom, and no outage of the platform that can stop a verification from happening. That is the property a Sovereign Network is meant to carry between organizations, not just within one.

- Phase 3. This is a longer-term piece of the roadmap.
- Can I participate in it now?
- No. The network is not yet designed or built.
- Does this exist anywhere else?
- Federation and direct trust between organizations are being explored by other platforms. ORBIS is designing its own approach to align with the estate's principles.
No central choke point, no record of who checked whom, and no outage of ours that can stop a verification. That is what removing the middleman actually buys — and it is worth saying plainly that the middleman we are removing would have been us.
